The warning comes as on August 24th it is marked full of six months since Moscow attacked Ukraine, days corresponding to the 31st anniversary of Ukraine's independence from the former Soviet Union.
Amid fears of attacks by Russia, the Ukrainian government decided to stop celebrations Wednesday in the country's capital.
The State Department has information that Russia is stepping up efforts to launch attacks against civilian infrastructure and Ukrainian government objects in the days ahead --”, the US Embassy said in a statement.
The U.S. citizens must leave Ukraine immediately, by their means, if this is a sure thing to undertake”, the statement follows.
This is not the first time Washington issued such a warning, but in this case the warning comes as Ukraine marks the anniversary of independence from Soviet rule.
The announcement also comes after Saturday's assassination with a Darya Dugina bomb car, the daughter of a prominent Russian ultranationalist, President Putin's close associate. Moscow has blamed the murder of Ukrainian intelligence agents, a charge Kiev has dismissed.
