Vucinac for agreement with Kosovo: I'm skeptical, I see no room for progress

Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has said he is not optimistic about reaching an agreement with Kosovo on reregistering car license plates. “I am skeptical and I just don't see room for progress, but it is up to us to do our best”, Vuciq said on August 26th in Oricina, where he opened the Cubula Fair. “I am skeptical and I just don't see room for progress, but it is up to us to do our best”, Vuciq said on August 26th in Oricina, where he opened the Cubula Fair.
Asked by a journalist whether he expects tensions on September 1st, the date Kosovo authorities announced for implementing decisions on auto reregistering and on personal documents, Vuciq replied:
I don't think anything could happen on September 1st, but this is a matter of time, because reregistering that they intend to perform last two months. Meanwhile, as far as document is concerned, there may be tension even on September 1st, if they refuse to have Serbs with Serbian personal documents go to their homes in Kosovo and from there enter central Serbia”, Vuciq said.

Both officials have visited Pristina and later Belgrade, where they have discussed the two countries' officials for preventing possible escalation of the situation between Serbia and Kosovo.
At a media conference in Belgrade on 26 August, Escobar said the US is asking both sides to pledge there will be no violence.
He also estimated that the talks were difficult, but “saw the will to find a solution, the will to build confidence in the process”.
The Kosovo government has postponed implementing decisions for early September, as local Serbs in the north revolted on July 31st and placed barricades on the road.
Later, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, met in Brussels on 18 August to find a solution within the dialogue on normalising relations, but no concrete results were achieved. / REL/
