Since the beginning of the Russian occupation, the government in Kiev has called on the West to send long-range artillery to reverse the war wave and attack Russian weapons supply lines and depots.
Moscow accuses the West of prolonging conflict by sending weapons and using long-range arms shipments as justification for the invasion of an additional Ukrainian territory.
“Ukrainian received four other American HIMARS systems. I am grateful to the American president, Secretary of Defense and to all Americans for strengthening the Ukrainian Army”, the Ukrainian minister wrote on Twitter.
HIMARS systems have a longer range and are more accurate than Ukrainian Soviet-era weapons, allowing the Ukrainian Army to target targets that were previously far away.
According to expert estimates, Ukraine already uses several dozen HIMARS.
Ukrainian Army also received three MARS systems II, German version of M270 US MLRS.
System manufacturer Kraus-Maffei Wegman says MARS II has an action ray of up to 70 miles [70 km], depending on the used ammunition.
Ukraine has already received Panzerhaubize 2000 aircraft from Germany, and in late July German Defence Minister Christina Lambrecht announced the handover of five Geppard anti-missive systems.
Kiev announced earlier that, among other things, it needs a thousand obus, 500 tanks and a thousand fears to repel the Russian attack.
Great Britain, France, Norway and Poland also sent artillery systems to Ukraine.
