Why? To deceive Russia to spend expensive missiles on false targets, the paper writes.
It's very difficult to determine fake, and the real HIMARS systems when viewed through a video camera of a Russian drone from a distance have been told by some Ukrainian officials about the American newspaper.
The importance of the advanced system in the battle to the south and east implies that Russian forces view them as targets for attack.
Copies from wood have been targeted at least 10 times by Calibr missiles just weeks after their deployment to the operation, and their success implies that production has been expanded, Ukrainian official told the newspaper.
The Washington Post added that the destruction of copies could explain Moscow's major claim that it has destroyed many Western artillery systems.
“Russia claimed to have destroyed more HIMARS than we sent”, an American diplomat said. /Periscopi/
