The day before, Taiwan revealed that ten Chinese planes crossed the island's strait.
China's Air Force has repeatedly flown across the air line during the past week as part of military exercises organised following US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to China's alleged island, which Beijing sharply opposed.
China has said Taiwan is part of its territory and will not tolerate “separatist activities on the island, threatening to annex it by force if necessary.
Taiwanese Foreign Minister Joseph Wu has said on August 9th that China is exploiting military exercises such as “preparation for the invasion of Taiwan”.
Taiwan has also started its military training Thursday.
American President Joe Biden said on August 8th he's concerned about China's actions, but added that “I don't believe they'll do anything more than they're doing”.
Reports Between China and Taiwan
Why do China and Taiwan have strained relationships? China and Taiwan were divided during the civil war in 1940, but Beijing insists the island will return once.
How is Taiwan governed? This island has its own Constitution, democratic elected leaders, and about 300,000 active military troops among the armed forces.
Who knows Taiwan? Only a few countries. The United States has no official connection with Taiwan, but it has a law that envisions sending the means the island needs to defend itself. / REL/
