Taiwan Foreign Minister Joseph Wu stated that China is using military exercises that began in protest against US House Speaker Nancy Pelos's visit as an excuse to prepare for an invasion of the self-government island.
Wu said at a news conference in Taipei that Taiwan would not be intimidated, even though China's military exercises continue.
“Kina used training to prepare for the invasion of Taiwan. Large-scale military exercises, missile concessions as well as cyber attacks, a dezinformation campaign in an effort to weaken public morality in Taiwan”, Wu stressed, seeking international support to preserve peace and stability, Reuters writes.
US President Joe Biden, in his first public comments to the issue since Pelossus' visit, said on Monday he was concerned about China's actions in the region, but was not concerned about Taiwan.
I'm worried they're moving, but I don't think they're going to do anything more”, the President told reporters in Delaware, referring to China.
