Through a Twitter publication, Stoltenberg said that all parties should remain calm and avoid unilateral action.
“I talked with Albin Kurti about the recent tensions in Kosovo and the continued importance of the KFOR mission. All sides must maintain calm, avoid unilateral actions and support EU-brokered dialogue. I remain in close contact with Pristina and Belgrade”, Stoltenberg wrote.

Different local Serbs had gathered on Sunday in Jarinje and Bernak, where they placed numerous barricades to oppose Kosovo's decision to reciprocity.
In addition, in the centre of Mitrovica for several hours, alarms have been heard, which imply the “collection of Serbs”.
Thus, at the vicinity of the Ibër bridge, numerous police units were added, while KFOR was present, who declared they were monitoring the situation closely.
For several consecutive hours in the north, there were constant tensions, where there were no shortage of gunfire against Kosovo police officers as well as the torture of some Albanians on the part of the masked Serbs.
Thus, the United States of America was asked that the Government of Kosovo withdraw the reciprocity decision for 30 days.
The Kosovo government later decided to withdraw the decision when the barricades are removed. During yesterday's day the barricades have been removed, while the government is expected to make a new decision under the issue on September 1st.
US Ambassador Jeffrey Havenier declared the decisions made by the Government of Kosovo in co-ordination with the internationals.
“The US welcomes the Kosovo leaders' decision to temporarily suspend the implementation of reciprocity measures for license plates and entry/speed documents, the two measures are fully in line with Brussels agreements and were co-ordinated with the international community”, Hovenier said.
