Amid this tense situation, the United States of America through its ambassador to Kosovo Jeff Havenier proposed that these decisions be postponed until September, so that the situation will calm down, which the government agreed to.
About this situation amid many reactions inside and outside Kosovo, Balkan policy connoisseur Alon Ben Meir has also reacted.
Ben Meir, through a Twitter post, has given several proposals on how this whole issue can be resolved in such a way that both countries, Kosovo and Serbia, come out victorious.
“To reach a permanent solution without violating each other's perceived or real political rights, they must consider the following resolution, which meets Kurt's demand for reciprocity without creating the perception that Serbia is recognising Kosovo's independence”, he said.
In the Balkan policy expert's proposal, it is said that the possibility of cars crossing the border holding license plates of their respective settlements.
Another proposal is that neither side ask travellers to obtain additional documents, since, according to the expert, would imply mutual recognition between the two countries.
All cars crossing the border in both directions will keep the license plate of their respective residence. Neither side will ask travellers in any direction (Kosovars in Serbia and Serbs in Kosovo) to obtain travel documents issued by the other side. This agreement does not imply or suggest mutual recognition of each other's sovereignty, but is made in the spirit of neighbourly relations and is a complement of the dialogue facilitated by the EU to advance normalisation of relations between the two sides”, Ben Meir has said.
