That the same would be brought to the Assembly for approval, VV chief Mimoza Kusari-Lila has said.
But in this case, Miftaraj has said that the importance of this Code is vital to justice in Kosovo, which says it would regulate many issues.
The Civil Code would have to be the priority of priorities not only for the Parliament but for all political parties, but at the same time, the Government would have to have Prime Minister Kurti lobbi lobbie this code approved and passed through this calendar year. We're not talking about a common code or legal initiative, we're talking about a civil justice encoding in Kosovo, which would regulate issues which are scattered in a large number of long-term laws in civil justice in Kosovo”, he has said.
Even against the fact that much importance is being given to issues that in some way are hindering the adoption of the Civil Code, this code should be seen as a set of legal norms that would facilitate the lives of citizens, facilitate the work of the court system in Kosovo, as well as promote the rights and human freedoms guaranteed with the Constitutions. I believe that in addition to issues related to the union of same-gender marriage, there are other issues that are important to Kosovo and that need to be adopted and that code passed as quickly as possible on the Kosovo Assembly”, he said.
Miftaraj has accused the Vetevendosje Movement of misusing the Civil Code for political agenda, while calling on the government chief to promote this Hill to his party.
“I don't believe it has been misunderstood how much it is being misused by the ruling party for political agenda or for a handful of votes. I believe we all know that a right guaranteed by the Constitution, that right only is empowered in practice. I believe MPs and citizens understand how important the civil code is. So we're talking about a systematic law that regulates an extremely much area but in some way the ruling party turns out different and I believe that Prime Minister Kurti himself would have to promote the idea that this code would be adopted”, he said. /EO/
