Unfortunately, I had to look to my parents and students for understanding, it was our will, but we had no choice. For the sake of student safety, their commitments guide them by the government for dialogue, and beg the parents not to wander the streets to school in vain. The strike will last less if the government sits down and starts implementing our demands. Tomorrow is the 6th or 7th day of the strike, the strike will continue until the government does not meet our demands. There is still time to sit with the unions, we beg the parents to try and find opportunities to offer sincere dialogue with the government. For the sake of student safety, students stay home. If we have information from schools that someone will try to pressure the strikers, they will inform the police because the strikers are in their jobs, at their home, and by law are protected”, Jashar said.
There's nothing for students to come to school because teachers are on strike that they didn't want, but they saw a different solution. The strike is not being done by individuals, it is the will expressed by education workers, but also by other workers”, Jasharaj added.
While, the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MASHTI) has announced that all preparations have been made for the start of the new school year 2022/2023.
While August 1st said they have made all preparations for the start of the school year on September 1st, teachers in Kosovo have been on strike since 25 August.
Minister Arberie Nagavci, at a media conference on August 31st, urged education workers to stop the strike.
We have been informed that all schools have made proper preparations for starting the learning process. All have been declared for the importance of starting a new school year on 1 story. I expect and demand there will be no strike in the education sector. Children await the start of the school year”, Nagavci said.
The main demand of these workers' unions, addressed to the Government of Kosovo, is the separation of 100 euros for workers until the Bill on Salaries comes into force.
On strike, besides education workers there are civil servants in Kosovo's local and central institutions. /Periscopi/
