Two 18-year-olds have been arrested in Durres after they are accused of bringing narcotics by mail from the UK to Albania.
State Police structures, in continued co-operation with the security structures of the Albanian Post and Tirana's Prosecutor, enabled the successful organisation and finalisation of the police operation, codenamed “Greek mail 2”, writes abcnews.al, broadcast Krankosova.tv.
As a result of the operation, the arrest of citizens M became possible. V., 18, and D. S., 18, resident in Tirana for criminal work “Narcotics Trafficking”, conducted in co-operation.
At the site called “Rythrop”, Plepa, Durres, police services have exercised control in the taxi he traveled to Tirana, citizen D. St.
As a result of the search, they were found and seized in the quality of material evidence, two packets of cardboard, within which were five bags of suspected narcotic substances Cannabis Sivra, weighing about 340 grams.
From investigative actions it has resulted that packages have come by mail from the United Kingdom to Albania and that their taskgiver is citizen M. V., who sent citizen D. St. to receive packages from the country of arrival (Darra) and to bring them to Tirana.
It comes from the State Police Department for Investigation of Narcotics and Illegal Traffics, and for the identification and legal responsibility of other persons involved in it.
Materials were passed to the Prosecution at the Court of First Century Tirana for further actions.
This is the second police operation conducted within the last three months for the crackdown on criminal activity of narcotics trafficking via mail by the United Kingdom. The police operation, codenamed “Post Greek”, took place on June 30th, 2022, and as a result, about 1.3kg of cannabis were seized and 2 citizens were placed in handcuffs.
