In an interview for the BBC, published in its Facebook account, President Vjosa Osmani says tensions in the Western Balkans are prepared by Russia's satellite in this region, from Serbia. “Tensions are escalating, however, there have been preparations from Serbia that have been pushed by Russia for a long time, for [...]
“Tensions are escalating, however, there have been preparations from Serbia that have been pushed by Russia for a long time, for escalation of the situation in the Western Balkans in general and in Kosovo in particular. In the last decade that Vuciq has led Serbia, but especially in the past month, they have continued to support illegal structures in the north consisting of criminal gangs. Through them and manipulating them are keeping the Serb minority living in Kosovo as hostages of these wrong policies”, Osmani has said, Pryscopi follows.
The BBC reporter has also asked the president about Prime Minister Kurti's statement that the days and weeks ahead may be challenging.
Your “prime minister has said that the days and weeks ahead may be challenging. Is there any real danger to your opinion, the escalation of violence?”, asks BBC reporter President Osmani.
Kosovo has never contributed and won't do it in escalating violence. But we must understand that we live near a neighbor who is fully controlled by Russia. They are fighting our democratic way of life, this is a fight against the democratic values in which our state”, Osmani says, among other things.
Reporter, BBC: So speaking in terms like this of Vladimir Putin, is there not a danger in a way that both language and accusations would actually escalate the situation?
Our accusations are not the ones that scale the situation. It's their actions that are escalating the situation and creating tensions.
So, practically if we tell the truth about the intentions of Russia and Serbia, it will not negatively affect.
I don't believe it helps the situation of authorities and genocide regimes like the one in Russia”, Osmani says.
BBC: But wouldn't it be better to take a longer pause to have more conversations?
“We are negotiating for the last 12 years and Kosovo has always been positive. We've always responded to dialogue and haven't left the table of dialogue and we've been a constructive side.
And we have signed agreements that we are respecting. Serbia is making the opposite”, Osmani says.
BBC: Is there no danger that Kosovo will become a kind of war victim in Ukraine. Risk is you're kind of involved in this.
Kosovo is a success story of what the democratic world can achieve, stands against tyranny and against genocide regimes. Kosovo is a story of success with developed democracy and a developing economy.
Serbia and Russia are interested in bringing tension to the region. We're not gonna tolerate this.
We will not fall prey to these provocations, we will not promote them, we will work with our partners that scenario, which has just described as not happening”, Osmani says.
BBC: What's your message to Vladimir Putin?
It will fail, in Ukraine and absolutely with its intention to destabilise the Western Balkans via its satellite, Serbia”, Osmani says. /Prepare with transcript: Periscope.
