Medium Al Jazeera has quoted an unidentified official who has said 20 people have died, rap reports.
Witnesses have told Reuters that the powerful explosion has been heard in the neighbourhood north of Kabul, and the windows in nearby buildings have been broken.
Ambulances were soon seen at the scene.
A Taliban intelligence official, speaking on anonymous terms, has told Reuters that the explosion occurred at a mosque in the Khair Khana region in Kabul.
