Defence Minister Armend Mehaj has indicated that, within this governing period, over 50m euros in arms purchases have been pledged.
He has said the defence ministry budget, under the leadership of Kurti Government, has nearly doubled, from 67m to 102.3m euros.
“Brenda the so far government period has pledged over 50m euros in arms purchase. So much budget for so many governing days, no government has ever shared before. The defence ministry's budget has been 67m euros, in our government has increased to 102.3 million”, Mehaji wrote on Facebook.
On the other hand, he indicated that another 1,240 new soldiers were recruited, and that, soon, another competition will be opened. According to Mehej, this has not happened with any other government.
We recruited 1,240 new soldiers in just one and a half years. The competition will soon open for 612 active soldiers and 367 reserve soldiers. This has not happened in any other government”.
His statements come after the LDK's reaction to lack of capital investments through the ministries of the Kurti Government. According to this political subject, the Ministry of Defence is leaving the army without weapons, as it has invested only 5 percent in capital investments.
