The European Union's emissary for Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, has spoken to Kosovo media after today's meetings, first with President Vjosa Osmani and then with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Lajcak has said that through a visit to Kosovo along with American emissar Gabriel Escobar, they have wanted to send the message that there is unity between Brussels and Washington and that the international community is concerned about what happened on July 31st of this year.
He has said he is expected to, along with Kosovo and Serbia leaders, not allow it to be repeated on the eve of September what happened in July to the north.
The most important message is that we are here with Gabriel Escobar first to show that unity between the EU and the US is complete and cannot be better. We are working together on normalising the reports between Kosovo and Serbia. And secondly, the international community is very concerned about what we saw on the ground on July 31st. And it is expected of us together, we as negotiators and leaders of Kosovo and Serbia not to allow this to be repeated on August 31st and therefore we are here”, Lajcak declared after the meetings.
