Lajcak, Escobar Meeting Meetings in Belgrade

After these meetings there was no address for the media.
The European Union's special representative in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, along with US envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar for two days have stayed in Kosovo, where they met with institutional leaders and opposition parties.
On the morning of August 25th, they also met with Serb political representatives in northern Mitrovica.
Lajcak said that in northern Kosovo, tensions on July 31st cannot be repeated, when some local Serbs set up barricades to prevent Kosovo government from implementing its decisions on license plates and travel documents.
The purpose of their visit was to be to avoid repeating tensions in northern Kosovo.
Some Serbs in the north rebelled on July 31st after the Kosovo government made a decision to reregister their cars from the plates that leaves Serbia with Kosovo license plates as well as to issue Kosovo documents to all Serbs entering Kosovo.
After straining the situation and suggestion of the international community, the Kosovo government postponed the implementation of its decisions on September 1st.
