According to Arben Klokoqi, from the Energy Community Secretariat in Vienna, the demand for this energy source has increased in the past two years, so Kosovo would benefit from trade in the region.
According to him, small-distance lignite export would be convenient for Kosovo, as prices at this time have also increased.
The Kosovo Energy Corporation currently does not have such contracts with any of the states, but has opened tenders for coal sales. Northern Macedonia is one of the potential guests.
We expect them directly or through some other company to come to buy coal from us, and this would have benefits for KEK”, KEK chief chief leader Nagip Krasniqi said in an interview for Klan Kosova.
There is also the need for Serbia, which has already hit 1 million tonnes of coal from China.
The economy ministry has not responded if it plans such a trade, but last year has failed energy exchange with northern Macedonia in the absence of technical and logistical conditions.
But Klokoqi proposes another form of commerce. According to him, potential contracts should index the price of electricity.
However, unionist Nexhat Llumnica estimates KEK has no labour force for such an event.
A high-quality coal on the majority market is currently worth between 350 and 400 euros.
