KMDLNJ: Energy reductions, a bad warning for citizens

KMDLNJ has reacted after the launch of electricity reductions in the country and warnings of expensive electricity, saying the Kosovo government urgently should cut down the electricity payment for northern municipalities and deal with consumers in line with laws in force. K ESCO has asked KEDS to start reductions from today [...]
K E SCO has asked KEDS to start power reductions under scheme, 6 powered and 2 hours without electricity, which has triggered numerous reactions.
Prior to that, KESCO has asked the Kosovo government for about 40m euros to pay for membership in the international network, as well as to pay the current for northern municipalities.
In response, KMDLNJ recalls that the Kosovo government has failed to keep its promise that it will not in the future pay electricity bills in the north, thus continuing to discriminate against electricity consumers on ethnic grounds.
Moreover, KMDLNJ recalls that the competent court at the request of the ombudsman has issued a ruling that it is illegal to subsidise 100 per cent of the electricity and other services for Serbs and others in the north and has demanded that this discrimination be halted on ethnic grounds.
The start of reducing electricity at a time when electricity spending is lower is a bad warning for the citizen. By the time we have inflation of about 15 percent and the prices of elementary articles are increasing, the price of electricity will be very severe for family economies as well as businesses. The rise in electricity, in a chain, will raise the prices of other articles and services, so KMDLNJ rejects the KESCO demand, as well as the reductions that have already begun, requiring the government to protect citizens' interest by unable to raise the electricity price”, it says in response.
Otherwise, KEDS has stressed that purchased electricity has caused energy loss, so KEDS and KESCO can no longer carry the burden of the global energy crisis and its effects in Kosovo, urgently demanding the actions of other shareholders in dealing with the crisis.
Currently, the daily production of the Kosovo Electronic Corporation (KEK) is about 507 MWh, while the consumer demand is up to 750 MWh. According to the Economy Ministry, KED's commercial and technical losses are 19%.
According to KEK at the moment in production are the blocks A3, A4, B1, while in B2 it is in Remont until 26 August 2022.
