Kosovo economist Safet Gerjaliu has said several energy projects have been stopped by the government.Here.
It is moral to say that in Kosovo there has been no interest in larger companies to invest in electricity and coal... We've given various recommendations, but instead of being welcomed, enmity has been placed against us, in 2016, I've been part of a presentation of the Mitsubishi company that, besides the study of feasibility, has also offered the guarantee for the renewal of bloc A and B, but what if you're not with us, you're against us, the company's gone away, and I believe that if there's still going to be a relativation of capacity, that company will pray to come but I have Dr. And that's where the building of the thermoelectrics --” is stopped, Gerjaliu said in Info Magazine.
According to him, Kosovo today is a state dependent on the importation of energy, despite having large coal reserves.
“Kosovo does not deserve to be victimised in terms of new energy capacities and prohibited construction, while 100 kilometers on the three fronts of Kosovo, electricity is produced, 600 megawatts are produced in northern Macedonia, Montenegro produces 300 megawatts, Bosnia 3200 megawatts and Serbia 5800 megawatts, and thanks to environmental patriots, Kosovo today is an imported state despite its largest capital reserves.
He said Kosovo is suffering from lack of political courage for a decision-making in the interests of the state and citizens.
The “alone in 2022 were two projects, like strategic investment projects, the first -- the French wind park -- has been blocked, the second has been the wind park by the Germans -- has been blocked”, he added.
