The move aims to prevent them “from mobilizing more hostility in society and to tear up old wounds” following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the government says.
A T-34 icon in the town of Narva was sent to the Museum of the War of Estonia.
Narva is Estonia's third largest city, where 97 percent of its population speak Russian.
Russia's war in Ukraine is fuelling tensions in Narva in particular, Estonia fears.
Prime Minister Kaya Kallas says her government “will not give Russia the opportunity to use the past to disrupt peace in Estonia”.
“Taking into account the speed of increasing tensions and confusion over memorials in Narva, we must act quickly to ensure public order and internal security”.
