Dialogue without result, NATO boosts presence in northern Kosovo

In northern Kosovo on July 31st and August 1st, tensions broke out after local Serbs set up barricades to oppose two decisions by the Government of Kosovo -- the one for Serbian plates and documents. Barricades were removed, but NATO has reiterated that KFOR is willing to intervene if stability is jeopardised.

In Leposaviq, the municipality in northern Kosovo, inhabited by Serb majority, on August 20th has been seen the increased presence of American KFOR soldiers serving in Kosovo. The situation in this area of Kosovo is calm.

On July 31st and August 1st, tensions rose in northern Kosovo, after local Serbs set up barricades to challenge two Kosovo Government decisions -- the one for Serbian plates and documents.

Mission NATO in Kosovo, KFOR has repeatedly reiterated that it is willing to intervene if stability is threatened in northern Kosovo.
