An American State Department spokesman has confirmed on Wednesday to Reporter Online.net that US Special Representative for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar has travelled to Brussels “to support the 18 August summit of the EU-brokered Dialogue”.
The Kurti-Vucciq meeting in Brussels, which came as a <x0 emergency>” following the tension of the situation in northern Kosovo on July 31st evening, is set to take place Thursday (morrow) by 10:30.
Part of the meeting, the EU has announced that besides its special emissary, Miroslav Lajcak will also be EU High Representative Josep Borell.
The Spaniard, at the end of the meeting, will address the media with a statement.
This whole organization is making Americans happy who “fully support dialogue”, a State Department spokesman shows.
“We are pleased that Kosovo and Serbia leaders will meet in Brussels on 18 August to discuss dialogue, mediated by the European Union. We fully support the dialog”.
It is important that both sides use this meeting to advance further discussions on normalisation of relations between the two countries”, this State Department spokesman told Reporter Online.net on Wednesday.
A source close to the Government of Kosovo on Tuesday has told the newspaper that Gabriel Escobar during his stay in Brussels will also have a separate meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti one day before the 18 August meeting.
On the other hand, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq himself, before leaving for Brussels, has announced that during his trip to “the European capital will meet separately with Escobar.
A day before the next Kurti-Vukic meeting, the two leaders of the countries have held separate meetings with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who has also travelled to Brussels to meet the pair.
