Doctors have sounded the alarm for an entirely new virus that has infected dozens of people in China.
Henipavius '%Langya é or LayV é was discovered in 35 people in the eastern provinces of Henan and Shandong of the country.
It belongs to a family of viruses known to kill up to three quarters of people on serious occasions.
None of the new cases have resulted in death, and most are easy, with patients experiencing flu-like symptoms.
The new virus is thought to have been transmitted by mushrooms ʹ smaller mammals from the same families as iris and moles.
A recently published study revealed that the virus was first discovered in people in 2019 with the latest cases this year.
Chinese experts investigating the virus believe that human cases areporadic. They're still trying to figure out if it can spread from person to person.
Researchers led by the Beijing Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology published their findings on the virus, also known as LayV, in a study in the New England Journal of Medicine.
They took note of the first case before January 2019 in Shandong, before a group of 14 cases were found during the next year in both provinces.
No infection was found during the first year of pandemic between January and July 2020, with researchers preventing the spread of Covid.
