WHO Chief: I want to send them before my hungry family in Ethiopia, but I can't.

Chief of the World Health Organization (OBSH), Tedros Ghebraesus, has said he cannot send money to his family <x1) hungry “in the Tigary region of Ethiopia. I have a lot of family there. I'd like to send you money, but I can't... “I don't know who's alive and who [...]
I have a lot of family there. I want to send you money, but I can't- - I can't-
I don't know who's alive and who's dead”, he's continued.
Since the war began in 2020, this region has been cut off from the rest of the world, without phone access or Internet access.
The Ethiopian government is accused of placing blockades in this region, which has hampered supplies.
The government itself has said that war is responsible for lack of supplies.
The World Food Programme has said that nearly half the population of 5.5 million people in Tigery is in desperate need of food.
This is not the first time that Tedros, former minister of health in Ethiopia, has talked about the war.
On Wednesday, he has said the situation is worse than in Ukraine and has suggested racism is behind the way the world has responded to these conflicts.
I can tell you that the humanitarian crisis in Tigery is bigger than in Ukraine, without overreacting. I said many months ago, maybe the reason is in the color of the people's skin in Tiger”.
The fighting has begun again this week in this region, after a ceasefire reached between the Tiger Forces and the Ethiopian Government.
The war broke out in 2020, after Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has ordered the sending of troops to Tigery to bring down the People's Liberation Front (TPLF), accusing the rebels of attacking federal military camps.
This decision was made after months of tension between the Government and TPFL, which has dominated Ethiopia's policy for three decades, until Abiy took power in 2019.
As a result of fighting in Africa's second largest country, thousands have been killed, millions have moved from their homes, and many have faced poverty. /rel
