Blinken: Governments Worldwide Show the Site of the Missing

The United States will engage in addressing the issue of forcibly missing persons, urging governments worldwide to put an end to this practice and discover their whereabouts. So says American Secretary of State Antony Blinken. International Day of the Missing [...]
So says American Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The International Day of Extinction is marked on August 30th.
Every year ordinary people fall victim to forced extinction and disappear without a trace, after being arrested, detained, or kidnapped by government officials or those acting with their consent. Those responsible often refuse to show the occurrence of the missing, even justify these actions as part of anti-terrorism activities”, the statement says.
Blinken said authoritarian regimes and their representatives try to instill fears and maintain control, eliminating human rights applicants, political activists, journalists and other groups such as children and disabled persons.
The statement adds that this practice is a scandalous violation of human rights, prohibited under the international Law, which still continues to be used to silence disagreements and attack civil society.
