B2 bloc does not return to office today as promised by Government, power reductions continue

Kosovo's government, had warned that the B2nd Tarr power block Kosova B, will be back in office on 26 August, which would eliminate power reductions. But KEK has exposed this, saying the bloc will be back in office within two days. KEK officials have today highlighted the Economic Bulletin [...]

KEK officials have today emphasised for the Economic Bulletin that all works about the planned remont of the B2 thermal power plant “Kosovo B” are very close to completion.

It is expected that in the next two days, this important power generation unit in Kosovo will be back in operation and with the functioning of this bloc, Kosovo will have about 260 megavats plus, meaning: out of 520 megawatts to be made about 780 megavat per hour of electricity, produced by our thermal power plants. This increased amount of electricity will be enough to supply Kosovo summer consumption, which behaves around 750 megawatts per hour.

That way, according to KEK officials, it is expected that in 1-2 days electricity reductions will be averted and that there will be supply of non-restationary day and night nationwide.

The planned B2 Remont was launched exactly August 7th, and it was pre-destined that re-degrading jobs in this stabilisation last until 2728 August. As it is known, the B2 bloc, as well as B1, has the capacity of production in the generator of 300 megawatts, while the capacity of these two network blocks is exactly 260 megawatts per hour. This means that, after B2 returns to production, which is expected to happen on August 27th, or further on August 28th, if everything goes according to plans, Kosovo's consumption will be added 260 megavat per hour, or the amount of electricity currently lacking in domestic consumption, and that as a result of this shortage has started in a few very severe reductions, respectively 2 hours without electricity and 6 hours without it.

So, if no unexpected and unforeseen technical defects occur, by the end of August there will be a total of four blocks of B1 and B2 of Kosovo B and A3 of A4 of Kosovo A4, which would jointly produce about 780 megavats of electricity (B1 and B2 together sometime around 520 megawats and A3 and A4 along with 240 megavats, which I told them that so roughly the consumption of Kosovo's summer days moves.

With this amount Kosovo will be available after the B1 return, it should be added even to about 100 megavat-hours produced by renewable energy stabilizers. In the following months, it will only be the A5th Kosovo bloc A, in which capital remont will take place and last until November of this year. This is the current situation, clearly distributed especially after the once-in-a-day approach to the A5 and B2 remonts, respectively, following the end of production in these two stabilisations.

While real problems from lack of electricity are expected to be presented in the winter months, when consumption in the country increases significantly and the country's production capacities (the existing renewable energy plants and stabilizers) will fail to meet consumption needs.

In these cold months and under these circumstances, Kosovo has no other option- but to import energy at very expensive prices, or to apply prolonged reductions.

Hence, saving as much energy as possible remains a necessary alternative, and in all times as possible. The most rational waste of electricity, for which energy development experts are insisting, and Kosovo authorities remain the duty and duty of each consumer in the coming days and months, during the winter season.
