According to witnesses, a man entered the Chautauqua Institute and started stabning Rushdeen while he was speaking. The author was captured by the police.
The book of Rushdie “The Satanic Verses” has been banned in Iran since 1988, since many Muslims consider it blasphemy. A year later, Iran's late leader, Ajatolah Ruholah Khomeni, issued a decree calling for Rushdie's death.
Iran has also offered over $3m as a reward to anyone who kills Rushdeen.
Actually, Mr. Rushdie's condition is not known.
