The Kosovo Assembly, at the plenary session held on 14 June 2022, has made a decision to appoint members of the Commission for the Protection of Competition. So it's been a month and this institution hasn't yet become “alive”. The institution has announced today that it has been done with Bord chairman, warning it will start working.
The Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo, at the plenary session held on 14 June 2022, with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo proposal, has decided on the appointment of members of the Commission for Protection of Competition. Under this decision, members of the Commission for the Protection of Competition have been appointed, Neime Binaku-Isoufi, chairman, Kaltrin Sela, deputy chairman, and 3 members of the Commission.
This decision envisions that the mandate of the commission members for the protection of competition, according to the decision's provision, is five years.
The decision has been sent to the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Kosovar Authority of Competition, those appointed to the Commission for the Protection of Competition and Assembly Archives”, the AKK report said.
The Authority's mission is to develop activities in creating conditions for markets to offer more benefits to consumers, businesses and society as a whole, protecting competition in the market and promoting a culture of competition in Kosovo. Authority does so by implementing competition rules and by actions aimed at ensuring fair competition among the interests of other public authorities. Competition policy is a necessary element of a free market, which functions by ensuring that all companies compete equally and fairly on the basis of their merits.
This is reflected also with the stated purpose of protecting competition, relying on three main pillars that determine the protection of competition:
Abuse in dominant position;
Forbidden deals in the form of folders and
The joints, or the establishments,
This institution envisions its functioning as a promoter and a advocate of competition and consumer and business interests, with the final aim of the market generating development. /Periscopi/
