On this day, former Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha says he is convinced that Kosovo will manage to integrate the country into Euro-Atlantic institutions.
In a post in social media, Basha writes that over the centuries Kosovo has known to show courage, strength and foresight in the face of numerous challenges it has faced during its history. He adds he is convinced that with the same commitment, the euro-intensive processes will follow.
“32 years ago, the women and men of the Kosovo Parliament revived the torch of freedom and marked the big twist in Kosovo's history. A big day, a blessed day for Albanians on both sides of the border.
The Constitutional Declaration of July 2nd 1990 is the cornerstone of the state of Kosovo, is the first step towards Kosovo independence, which was built with the peaceful Movement for Republic and Independence led by Ibrahim Rugova and culminated in the Kosovo Liberation Army's fight to be fully realised on February 17th 2008.
Kosovo has known for centuries to show courage, strength and foresight in the face of the many challenges it has faced in its history. Today, as Kosovo prepares to take steps towards NATO membership and the European Union, I am convinced that with the same dedication and commitment that fought for independence, men and women, its political leadership, will turn out to make membership in Euro-Atlantic institutions a reality, the country that dreamed of those who worked and gave their lives for it. ”
