The record prize for a sweet cherry Aomori Heartbeat at the first auction in Japan reached $26,450,000 yen.
NHK TV reported that a box of 15 cherry trees was sold for $4,400 (600,000 yen).
The cost for red beans was $296 (450,000 yen), 25 % more of the 2021 prices, and a total of 11 boxes of this variety have been sold.
Cultivators from the Aomori Prefecture began actively trading their variety Aomori Heartbeat three years ago.
The new variety is marked by their size (up to two and a half inches [2.5 cm] in diameter), bright red color, brightness, and balance of rich taste. / SCAN
