Ten interventions within 24 hours by Pristina firefighters

Firefighters in Pristina, although with small numbers and older equipment, are continuing to intervene in the extinguishing of forest, mountainous, and building fires. Only in the last 24 hours have they had ten interventions, including one banes.

The spokesman for the change chief, Shaban Krme, in an interview for Kosova Preris, said burning some waste in Vranjefc has lasted 24 hours and is still continuing.

In the last 24 hours of the Pristina Fire Brigade, we've had 10 interventions from six field, mountain fires, 3 technical interventions and an intervention has been in the flat. Even in Vranjefc, the burning of waste has occurred, it is burning that 24 hours have not died out after waste. Krmam, meanwhile, has indicated that logisticalally they are not in good condition, since the equipment at their disposal is outdated.

We're not in very good shape, we have some equipment, but these are old, especially for field fires, mountain fires, we have all available. We not only cover Pristina, but also Caglavica, Obilic and Fushe Kosovo. We only have two trucks that are alone for that kind of intervention, while based on the spaces we have that are very little”, he stressed.

Asked whether Pristina firemen can stop in aid to other municipalities in case of need, he has indicated they have no opportunity.

At the moment, at this time interval, July and August, with the small number of workers we have, we have no chance to come to any aid from any of the municipalities, unless it's something extraordinary and the firefighters are mobilized, but at the moment, with a change as we are, we have a total of 7 firefighters available, without counting the telephone, they 7 we dare not leave the city of Pristina, knowing that the city is already in charge of the brings of brings out”, he comes.

Otherwise, the chief's spokesman has expressed outrage at institutions for failing to approve the pay law.

If we speak in terms of firefighters, we are disappointed as we are the most damaged side of all public institutions. We don't get our night shift, nor our holidays, nor after hours of work, none of this is paid to us, we're the most literally damaged, by non-adopted salary law. According to him, at the moment there are 110 firefighters, and in a shift there are only 11 operational firefighters, while the average age of a fireman is 49 years.

Over 900 interventions have taken place only in the Pristina region, since the beginning of this year, and last year over 2,000 interventions.
