Excavations in Dubrovnik Forum: Not expected another war, to integrate Balkans into the EU

Under the Dubrovnik Forum on Saturday, Gervala has said that the Western Balkan states have already proved to be extraordinary contributors with common values to the European Union.

“U discussed granting candidate status to Ukraine before the war began, and as we have seen, there were many skeptics who told us that it is possible and that there are few shortcuts. Then came the war, and the right decision was made to help. It is important that Ukraine win this war. Fortunately, it is assisted not only with political assistance but also with military and economic assistance. It is important not to expect another war in the Balkans, being able to include and integrate this European region into the European Union, because it is normal to do”, she has said, adding that Balkan states like Croatia and Slovenia have already witnessed with their contribution to the EU the values of Balkan states.

According to her, recent protests in Albania and Macedonia should be seen with the eye that “tas is the time to act and not just talk about the integration of the Balkans”.

Gervala has criticised Serbia as the only state of the region that has imposed sanctions on Russia.

“We can silence the fact that in the Western Balkans one of the states has shown it is part of EU values with solidarity for Ukraine and against this war. This should change”, Grovall has said, adding that this cannot change through words, but only if democratic forces are found in Serbia that are willing to make Serbia part of EU values. In this case, she has said that Kosovo is for Balkan integration in the EU, but based on merit.

For dialogue with Serbia, Kosovo's foreign minister has said that Kosovo is interested, but that the problem “is that Serbia should be able to understand reality”.
