EULEX donates Ukraine the vehicles it used in Kosovo

At a ceremony organised in Pristina, Eulex mission officials said each of these vehicles is in charge of humanitarian supplies to Ukraine.

EULEX mission chief in Kosovo Lars-Gunnar Wigemark said this support along with that of the European Union will help the people of Ukraine cope with Russian aggression. He stressed Kosovo's role in supporting Ukraine.

Of course, many Kosovo citizens know well through their experience what it means to become refugees and expose aggression. Kosovo's solidarity with Ukraine has surfaced in many ways, including the programme of journalists and refugees, Kosovo has also joined almost all common positions of European Union foreign policy and security, and I look forward to the day, in the distant future, when Kosovo will participate in joint security and defence missions, such as this”, he said.

Wigemark said the Eulex mission is also sharing experience in investigating war crimes with colleagues in the EU mission in Ukraine.

High representative of Ukraine's KFOR contingent Ivan Nastenko said the support of European and Western countries is helping the people of Ukraine in Russia's unwarranted and untested war.

My emotions are mixed, on one side I feel ashamed to be here while my friends are risking their lives for Ukraine. On the other hand, I am very proud today to be here and to serve in front of international partners, who are always willing to share the barrier, with whom they send a clear message to the whole world that Ukraine is not alone in this fight”, he said.

The chief of the European Union office in Kosovo, Thomas Szunyog, said the war in Ukraine remained the most serious geopolitical and security challenges for Europe.

I am proud to be able today to demonstrate not only political support for Ukraine but also humanitarian support and support for the European Union mission in Ukraine. This does not mean that we are removing focus from Kosovo, Kosovo is still like the entire Western Balkan region's priority in the European Union agenda”, he said.

Foreign Affairs Minister Donika Grovalla said Kosovo will continue to support Ukraine.

So please see our solidarity as something very natural and something normal that needs to happen and realize that Kosovo expects all in Europe to show not only solidarity, but to see that this war ends as it should with Ukraine's victory. and thus preventing not only the destruction of Ukraine but also the further wars in Europe”, she said.

Since Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the Kosovo government has joined US and European sanctions against Russia and several individuals from Belarus, as they were told their role in facilitating the Russian attack on Ukraine. / VOA
