Congress approves Resolution for Bytyqi brothers: US-Serbia report depends on resolving case

According to the adopted resolution, it is required that persons responsible for the shooting of Star, Agron and Mehmet Bytyqi in July 1999 in Serbia must be brought to justice.
It is also condemned that no individual has yet been convicted of their murder, or of any other crime related to their deaths, and also that no person is facing charges of such a terrible crime.
The resolution at its point three require that Serbia's “government and its relevant ministries and offices, including the Serbian Prosecutor for War Crimes, make investigation and prosecution priority as soon as possible against those current officials or former officials believed to be responsible for their deaths, directly or indirectly”.
At point four, it says the US should provide sufficient resources to help and monitor the efforts of the Government of Serbia and ministries to investigate and prosecute as soon as possible those believed to be involved in their deaths, directly or indirectly.
And at the last point, it is said that its progress or lack in solving this case should remain the important factor determining the further development of reports between the US and Serbia.

The resolution received 423 votes “pro”, 1 against, until they voted 6.
The Bytyqi family reacted to this event in the House of Representatives through the official account at “twitter”.
“Lajm! The House of Representatives just approved the Bytyqi Brothers Resolution, deciding that the process in solving the case, or its absence, should remain an important factor determining the further development of relations between the US and Serbia.”, thanking American politician Lee Zeldin also for sponsoring Resolution.
