The BBC reports that authorities have issued a red warning of extreme heat on Monday and Tuesday, in much of England, from London and southeast to York and Manchester.
High temperatures are also predicted throughout the United Kingdom, throughout Wales and parts of Scotland.
London is expected to be one of the hottest spots in the world on Monday, with temperatures rising over the western Sahara and the Caribbean.
Some schools have planned to close early or not to open at all, even though the government has provided instructions to keep them open.
The highest temperature ever recorded in the United Kingdom is 38.7C, in Cambridge in 2019.
