During a London presentation on July 6th along with FBI Director Christopher Wray, MI5 head Ken McCallum, said the British agency has “doubled efforts against the disturbing Chinese activity”.
The Chinese government and its “secret pressure worldwide” constitutes the largest “challenges that we face”, he said.
This may seem abstract. But it's true and it's urgent”, McCallum said. “
Chief of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Christopher Wray, agreed with those positions, while saying Beijing “poses the greatest threat in long term” to the economy and national security of London and Washington, and allies in Europe and elsewhere.
The Chinese government is trying to shape the world by interfering with our policy and our allies”, Wray said, as he spoke at MI5 headquarters in London.
The Chinese Government's retaliatory programme “is larger than the major states combined”, Wray said.
This joint presentation of the two officials shows how big a challenge the Chinese government and its intelligence are considering.
A Chinese Embassy spokesman in London dismissed the comments.
These claims against China by US and British intelligence officials are completely groundless and the so-called cases they have mentioned are pure persecution”, this spokesman has said of Reuters.
London and Washington must give up the Cold War mentality that has emerged from fashion... and must stop creating confrontations and conflicts”, said this Chinese Embassy official in London. / REL/
