US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has declared Kosovo to be a steadfast partner of the United States of America.
Blinken during the meeting in Washington with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said the two states have a long history, while thanking Kosovo for hosting Afghan refugees and for supporting Ukraine after Russian aggression.
Kosovo is a steadfast partner of the United States and I think as you all know, there is a long and strong story between us, especially with President Biden, who sends you his warm greetings. I want to thank you again for the generous reception of Afghans at stake, the strong support we have seen since the first day for Ukraine facing Russian aggression, the work you are doing at the Summit on Democracy, including the organisation of the summit for women, peace and security, and, Mrs. President, I especially appreciate your leadership in this regard. Tomorrow you will sign an agreement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation really important, especially when it comes to supporting your efforts to build renewable energy. So there's a lot to talk about, while we're working on all these issues, as well, of course, on the basic regional security issues that I know we'll have a chance to discuss”, Blinken stressed.
While President Vjosa Osmani declared that Kosovo's independence is irreversible reality and that it will work with the US and other democratic countries so that our country's international position will be strengthened further by taking the rightful place in the Euro-Atlantic community.
Osmani has also cited Russia's efforts to destabilise the Western Balkans.
“Sic knows secretary, Putin will continue to try to destabilise Europe even through the Western Balkans. We will continue to need the steadfast support of the United States, as well as our European allies, to ensure that Russia's plans, as well as its representatives in the region, are halted. For this reason, we look forward to working with you, with the entire Benden administration, to make sure that as the first lines in protecting democracy, we are successful in protecting our common values, which are the foundations of our country... Independent, sovereign, free Kosovo is an irreversible reality that you have helped create. We will work side by side each day together with the United States, as well as with other democratic countries worldwide, to ensure that this reality is strengthened, to make sure that the international position of the Republic of Kosovo is strengthened, and to move forward to our deserved country in the Euro-Atlantic community”, Osmani stressed.
President Osmani said Kosovo will continue to remain the US's powerful ally.
You're staying with Ukraine two decades ago today. So I want to assure you on behalf of Kosovo that the people of Kosovo stand alongside Ukraine, as we have shown with the adoption of sanctions immediately, on the same day that the United States and the European Union have done so. And, of course, we repeat our call to all countries in the region to do this”, Osman stressed.
President Osmani, Prime Minister Kurti and Economy Minister Artana Rizvanolli travelled to the United States of America on Monday for signing the 200-million-dollar agreement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for the Kosovo Committee Programme.
