Beden congratulates the Albanian people: Staying with Albania on its way to the EU (Video)

US President Joe Biden has congratulated the Albanian people on the 100th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

Through a video message, Beden says the US stands by Albania as they work to strengthen democratic institutions, fight corruption, rule of law and the way of the Albanian state towards the EU.

Throughout the people of Albania, I sent my warmest wishes of long-lived friendship with the United States, while celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. When the United States defended Albania after World War I, there was a lasting friendship between our peoples, a shared love of freedom and the values of democracy that were never broken.

Today, Albania and the US are allies in NATO and partners working together to protect freedom and democracy in Europe and worldwide, including our work at the UN Security Council. Albania has also made a critical contribution to supporting the humanitarian and security needs of the Ukrainian people as they defend themselves against Russia's brutal war. I also want to thank Albania's people for their hospitality in the housing of thousands of Afghans over the past year.

The US will continue to stay with Albania as you work to strengthen democratic institutions, fight corruption, rule of law and complete the journey to join the European Union. I hope the two nations continue to build on all that we have achieved together and offer a more powerful, hopeful future for our children.
