American Congressman: Long-range weapons are key to Ukraine's victory

US representative Adam Smith, chairman of the House of Representatives' Armed Services Committee, said Washington hopes to significantly increase the amount of long-range weapons Ukraine has to defeat Russia and prevent President Vladimir Putin's brutal and unprotested attack on the country. Speaking of Ukrainian Radio Europe Free Radio Service Smith said it aims for Ukraine to take up to 30 missile systems with a lot of concessions, Kievi has demanded at least 50 pounds as soon as possible “because in this war, anyone who can see away and throw away will be in better shape”.
Smith said Putin is trying to expand Russian territory not because he felt threatened, but because “wanted to expand Russia's territory through brutal force”.
Smith met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky while on a weekend trip to Kiev with a group of two-party lawmakers.
The United States has already delivered a dozen other high-speed Artillery missile systems (HIMARS).
Meanwhile, Western allies have handed over to Ukraine several M270 missile systems, the multiple missile launcher system (MLRS).
Systems can launch missiles far behind enemy lines by a few meters of accuracy, making them very effective.
