When it comes to Kosovo's coal reserves, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, said Serbia wants to deal with Pristina on buying a considerable amount of lignite and that in exchange it can supply electricity, Serbian media have reported.
He added he believes he will soon negotiate with Pristina representatives on the subject.
If they don't want this, we can pay for the coal, but of course we are ready to talk about it, the president said during a press conference in Ohrid.
He has added that he cannot deal with Kosovo's entry into the “Open Balkans”, which is an economic history in which the economic problem should be resolved.
And if they want to sell it to us, we'll buy 100 thousand tons in Banovqi. For us, this means meeting our needs for five days during winter. We buy from Bulgarians, Romanians, Greeks. Everything we don't have, we buy”, Vuciq said, and added he believes he will soon sit down and talk with Pristina authorities. He emphasises that Serbia offers security to all when it comes to food that no one needs.
“We are ready to provide food for everyone and no one will have as much gas as we have. But sanctions will kill us, we will still have problems,” the president added.
