Vitaly Kim, governor of the Mykolaev region at the southern front line, said the fighting had turned into a “artillery war “”. He added that the Russian army was much more powerful, while Ukraine's troops were ending up with shells, the AFP news agency reported.
He called on Western allies to speed up the distribution of long-range weapons and ammunition to help Ukraine retaliate.
Europe and America's assistance is very, very important”, Kim said.
Ukraine's Deputy Chief of Military Intelligence, Vadym Skibitsky, issued similar statements in an interview with the British Guardian newspaper on Friday.
