The planes are not in the United States, and this bid for confiscation is the latest in a series of sanctions against Russian billionaires in response to Russia's attack on Ukraine, CNBC reports.
The planes linked to Abramovich are Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and the Gulfstream G650 ER, according to documents delivered to the U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
Prosecutors said both planes were transferred to Russia in March, violating US export restrictions imposed following Russia's attack on Ukraine.
Boeing, which according to the court's data totals $350m, is currently located in Dubai and according to judicial documents, Gulf Stream is located in Russia.
