Mullists with good news: The flour wheat is expected to be released

The first of the millers, Bashkim Zajullahu, has said it is unreasonable to raise the price of bread when prices are declining.

According to Zeinsu God, wheat and flour have been sold cheaper this week and are expected to be released still during the following days.

It's unfair, it's unlogical and unreasonable. There's a drop in the price of wheat and flour. Before the season this is normal and logical. Now last week, we've got a price drop and we're expecting further price reductions. So it doesn't come as the reason for moving any flour prices into the market or even the lack it presented. There's no shortage, there's enough amount. We wait a week to start with the wheat season. Prices are on the rise, not on the rise. I find yesterday's price moves very unreasonable”, Zejrullahu said.

He has denied to have a lack of wheat in the country.

The “Hers is talking about productivity, at the end of next week shows us how the regions will behave that they are not all the same countries. We'll prepare for any situation. Early, though, it is about the new wheat. But there is enough old wheat, and we are very well prepared. You know, I've been commenting on it in February, I said we've got two months of backup and we've come to season and we're very stable. In the region we are at the lowest price of flour.

On the other hand, Zejnullah has said that it cannot be mixed into the prices set by individual businesses, but that such a decision is unreasonable for them.

In individual businesses we can only blend, it's fair for everyone to sell their goods in any way, is free market. But I don't think it's irresponsible because prices are falling, not rising. Unreasonable to raise today's bread prices, very unreasonable even”, Zeinullahu has declared for Express.

Otherwise, with grain - planted surfaces in the autumn, imports from other countries may be inevitable.

From the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development have told Gazeta Express that the area with wheat culture expected to be harvested this year is 66,159.52 hectares.

Compared to the 2020 crop, there are about six thousand acres less.

“across the entire territory of the Republic of Kosovo, within 2021 year's autumn sowing with wheat culture, a surface of 66,159,52 hectares has been planted. As the basic material for data from these autumn plantings has been the data of the Municipal Directors of Agriculture, and based on this data, the area with wheat culture expected to be harvested this year is 66,159.52 hectares of”, declared by MBPZHR).

According to data from this ministry, with the amount of grain produced in 2021, Kosovo has met wheat needs for 67 percent.

The rest of the need is covered by import.

“Nakq, based on the 2021 harvest report, given the general area with wheat culture of 72,272.75 ha, which was harvested during that year and the average productivity of 3,804kg/ha, Kosovo for 2021 has produced about 274,922.70 tonnes of wheat. The wheat nutrients for the Kosovo population are about 200kg per capita for one year, so an estimated 400,000 tonnes of wheat is needed for annual consumption. With the amount of wheat produced in 2021, Kosovo manages to meet wheat needs to the extent of 67 percent”, the ministry's answers are said.

And despite some of the states from which Kosovo bought the wheat in recent years, it suspended its post-war export to Ukraine, the country has found solutions, providing this product from other states.

According to statistics Kosovo Customs has sent to Gazeta Express, during these five months, Kosovo has imported wheat worth nearly 12m euros.

This import is made up of seven countries. The country of which most wheat was purchased is Serbia, of which it imported wheat to buy over eightm euros, followed by France.

Other states of which Kosovars have been supplied with wheat these months are also Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy and Northern Macedonia.
