It's about a 47-year-old who had recently travelled to Spain. From Saturday evening he is being treated isolated and in stable condition.
The first tests were conducted at the Central Laboratory and were confirmed that the patient is positive from the EODY National Health Organization. The genetic material has also been sent to the Microbiology laboratory of Aristotle University Medical School in Thessaloniki for identification and further genetic analysis.
First case in Greece was confirmed four days ago, again to a 59-year-old person
who recently traveled to Portugal. Both patients are treated in hospital isolation conditions and are in stable condition.
The World Health Organization confirms that the world's total number of monkey-freeness cases has gone to over 1478 (10000) in countries in Western and southwest Europe alone ) and the three countries where the most confirmed cases are recorded are Britain (366), Spapanja options 275), and Portugal (209).
In Greece the National Public Health Organization stresses that no cases of disease infected by local patients have been recorded so far. Meanwhile, Greek authorities have decided that every Thursday there will be public information about the cases of monkey smallpox.
However, they re-focus that according to epidemiological data available to the general population is still low, as the disease is characterized by relatively low broadcasters, but that summer population movements for tourism, especially in Greece, are expected to exacerbate the problem.
