U.S. Chief of Staff: Ukraine to Continue Receive Significant Support

The United States and allied countries will provide significant support to Ukraine, thus respecting the legacy of soldiers who participated in Europe's Day of Equipment operations ( D-Day, whose victory over the Nazis was determining peace and a new world order, General Mark Milley said on Monday. [...]
During an interview for the news agency “Associated Press”, from Omaha Coast to Normandy, General Milley said Russia's war in Ukraine breaks down rules imposed by allied countries after the end of World War II. He spoke on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of D-Day, the day of landing of Allied forces on the coast of France, which enabled freedom from the invading forces of Nazi Germany.
A fundamental principle of the global <x0ndrend based on rules” is that “a country cannot attack another with military forces as an act of aggression, except in case it is entirely for defence”, he stressed. “But that's not what happened to Ukraine. What happened here is obviously an act of aggression”.
The “is widely perceived to harm the rules for which those who died in Omaha Coast died from here in the Colleville-sur-Mer” cemetery, he added. “They lost their lives for something. They died in order to establish this order so that we could live in peace”, General Millie said, speaking at the American cemetery across the coast of Coleville-rsur in northwest France.
For this reason, Europe's and NATO's <x0 countries are supporting Ukraine to ensure that the established order is strengthened and supported”, General Milley said.
Tens of veterans, currently all in the 90s -- from the United States, Britain, Canada and other countries -- attended the ceremony Monday on the D-Day case.
On June 6, 1944, Allied forces landed with 7 thousand naval vehicles on the French coast, which were named Omaha, Utah, Juno, Sword, and Gold. On a single day, 4414 Allied forces soldiers lost their lives, 2501 of them American. Over five thousand were injured. On the German side, several thousand were killed or wounded. Massage landing helped defeat Hitler and end World War II.
Asked whether Ukraine is receiving sufficient support, General Milley noted that “is under way a very significant battle in Donbas”, the industrial region on the border with Russia. However, Kiev (the capital) has been protected and successfully protected. The Russians had to move their forces south to Donbas. And we'll see what courses they get (fights there)”.
“I think the United States and allied countries are offering a significant level of support to Ukraine, which will continue”, he said, without providing further details.
General Millie spoke with strong tones for Ukraine during the ceremony in the American cemetery, attended by over 20 World War II veterans and several thousand spectators.
“Kiev could be 2,000 kilometers from here. They too are experiencing exactly the same horrors that French citizens experienced during World War II in the hands of Nazi invaders”, General Milley said during his speech. “Let's not be present here the only witnesses of the time the Allies gathered together to defeat tyranny”.
General Millie's parents served in the army during World War II. His uncle served in the navy off the coast of Normandy on the Day of Zbarkim ( D-Day, under Operation Overlord.
That generation of soldiers “fought and sacrificed for all of us... And I have a very special relationship with them. And I have a lot of respect for their act. I think all of us today should continue the legacy that they fought for and gave their lives”, General Milley said.
