Alexander Bobkin and Alexander Ivanon admitted they were part of an artillery unit that opened fires in the Kharkiv region from the Belgorod region in Russia.
The grenadeisation destroyed an education building in the village of Derhac, prosecutors said.
Bobkin and Ivanov, named as drivers and artillery files, were seized after crossing the border and continuing the bombing, the attorney general's office said.
In a trial at Kotelevska in central Ukraine, Bobik told judges: “I am completely guilty of the crimes I am being charged with. We shot Ukraine from Russia”.
Ivanon demanded that his maximum sentence not be pronounced, saying to the court: “I repent and ask for a reduction in sentence”.
State prosecutors demanded that the two be sentenced to prison for breaking war laws for up to 12 years. A defence lawyer called for a reduced sentence, saying the two soldiers have been following orders and have repented.
The verdict is expected on 31 May. /Periscopi/
