On May 25th, Vuciq met with Abazovic, as both leaders are participating in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
The forum in Davos, which began on 22 May and will last until 26 May, is being held after a two-year pause due to the coronary pandemic.
“Even an excellent opportunity to discuss bilateral issues with Dritan Abazovic during the World Economic Forum, but to invite him once again to join us at the meeting of the Open Balkans initiative in Ohrid”, Vuciq said through a post in Instagram.
Meanwhile, Abazovic said his state is making efforts to promote a policy of regional co-operation, reconciliation, co-existence and better economic cohesion in the Western Balkans.
“Relations with Serbia are a priority: we are ready for intensive co-operation in all areas of common interest”, Abazovic wrote in his Twitter account.
The “Open Balkans initiative” is the continuation of the “mini-Shengen” Balkan, introduced in Serbia's Novi Sad on 10 October 2019, by leaders of Serbia, Northern Macedonia and Albania.
When the “Balkan Open” initiative was introduced, then Montenegro with the government of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) refused to participate in this regional initiative.
However, the new prime minister, Dritan Abazovic, supports the concept of this initiative. Abazovic has voiced support for this initiative during an interview for Klan Kosovo on 11 May.
