Ambassador Szunyog said the purpose of these meetings being held with young people in Kosovo municipalities is to get acquainted with the problems young people face, as well as to present to them the work and goals of the EU in Kosovo.
It's a pleasure to be here and talk about your problems, about your goals, about everyday problems related to transportation, which is the key to solving challenges about green agenda and one of the problems and one of the 25 EU goals. This is the area in which the EU is focused and which it needs you to have access to” experience.
Over the last few years we've engaged several experts in EU programmes and invested in infrastructure and railways, all of these things are within green agenda targets and 25 components of the green agenda”.
Szunyog further said that young people are Kosovo's future, until he promised support for EU integration.
“This visit is in the context of Europe week and is continuing with younger activities, trying to particularly engage young people in the activity of Europe. I believe that young people are the future of Kosovo and what we are trying to do is to help Kosovo integrate into the European Union. It's something that helps you get more benefits and enjoy all the opportunities Europe can offer”, he said.
Ambassador Szunyog added that the most important priority of the EU's presence in Kosovo is the country's support towards membership in the European Union.
“We and the UNDP have made a lot of efforts to put Kosovo in line with the implementation standards in the European Union. I think the most important priority is to support Kosovo on the path of the European Union with every detail we can. Unfortunately, Europe is in wartime and we are looking at how to make Kosovo safer and of course the top priority is the green agenda, so agreement “green” so that we can have direction in the future, and that this understands that we need responsibility, so that it can change carbon gases and change the way energy is used, and change the way we live”, he said further.
“We are also looking at a new strategy and will co-operate with the Government of Kosovo in order to address this issue, namely, in co-operation with the European Union in order to help Kosovo and the Government of Kosovo. The second priority is, which I would like to stress is to do with supporting young people, better education and better opportunities through exchange programmes in ways that students have a new experience in Europe”, the ambassador added.
For this we are happy to restore Kosovo may be part of the ERSMUS programme. Of course, there are still some challenges in education policies and political means and we are willing to co-operate with the Government in order to contribute to the education sector and provide opportunities for Kosovo students to go to different schools in Europe”.
Of course, economic opportunities are important for us and we are trying to support the public sector, but we are also working with the government in general in terms of the economy, so investments and currently we are helping with investments and for more” investments, he said.
And one of the young participants, Speed Ramadani, thanked Ambassador Szunyog for visiting young people in Kosovo municipalities, on the occasion of Europe Week.
It's a wonderful thing you're doing visiting different municipalities and so you can listen better, closer to their problems that they present. As a new European, I say we are working on different topics and are working on the implementation of the new Balkan idea and we are five of the European House and other European organisations”.
“We are happy to be part of the Europe Day activities and we are very happy that we have the opportunity to speak to the younger people of different regions and tell you about problems”, this young ferizas said.
