Violence occurred during the delivery of the coffin as the crowds moved through the old city of East Jerusalem.
Thousands of Palestinians gathered for the funeral before Abu Akle's body was sent to the cemetery in Mount Zion, where she would be buried alongside her parents.
The journalist's body was transported to Jerusalem through Nablus and Ramallah from Yen, where he was killed by Israeli forces Wednesday.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the case of Abu Akle's murder would be sent to the International Court of Justice while blaming the Israeli state, where it denied the charges.
By contrast, the 51-year-old was a Palestinian journalist with US citizenship and worked for 25 years as an Al Jazeera reporter and was a popular name throughout the Middle East.
On May 11, 2022, she was shot and killed while covering an Israeli military raid on the West Coast city of Yen.
