US lifts sanctions on Iran, Trump: I'll do what it takes if Tehran behaves badly

The United States lifted sanctions on Iran for 60 days starting Monday, following the first talks under a developing peace agreement, with US President Donald Trump saying he would “constitute what he must do if Iran does not adhere to his part of the deal.
US Vice President JD Vance said talks with Iranian officials in Switzerland had gone well for a final peace agreement, though Iran denied that it had begun discussions on its nuclear programme.
The two sides, trying to build something on the provisional agreement they signed last week, agreed on an action plan towards a permanent agreement within 60 days in talks at the Qatar-owned Swiss mountain resort of Buergenstock, Pakistan and Qatar said.
They also agreed to a mechanism to end the fighting in Lebanon between the US ally Israel and the Iran-related Hezbollah, and opened a communication line to help secure passage for commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz in order to avoid conflict on strategic waterways.
In the first step by several steps envisioned under the deal to offer economic assistance to Iran, the US Treasury announced a August 21st drop from sanctions, allowing Tehran to sell oil and similar products and receive payment.
Officials reported a continuing calm of fighting in Lebanon under the deal aimed at ending hostilities throughout the region, even though Israel said it would maintain a security zone in southern Lebanon and continue to act on “neutrified” threats against Israeli soldiers and citizens.
Traffic tanks through Hormuz began to increase on Monday, with Oman's foreign minister confirming his country's commitment to international law and free passage during negotiations with Iran on the management of the life waterway.
US-Israel attacks on Iran and Israeli attacks on Lebanon have killed thousands of people and displaced millions. Iran's war has also shaken markets worldwide and raised global oil prices. The crude oil prices lasted losses Tuesday after 3% stabilized below Monday.
